Joann L. Feeney

Joann mainly creates portraits of people, pets and wildlife in pastel.

Statement from the artist:

Time and circumstances have favored me so that I am able to create drawings and paintings as I am inspired.  I am enchanted with color and use it boldly, trying to see it in all its various subtleties as well as its obviousness.  My paintings are guided by the interplay of light and shadow, giving structure to the color; my preference is to work from life, whether it is a bowl of fruit or the human form.  When that is not possible I work from photos I have taken, or my imagination.  The amazing beauty I have found in both nature and humanity keep me constantly striving to convey this in my work.
