The Hamburg Lions has been serving our Community since 1970 and work diligently to improve our Community’s health and welfare.
The Lions Club serves our community in a variety of ways. We support the Hamburg Public Library, the Hamburg Fire Company for equipment and maintenance, purchased and installed hydrant locator whips throughout the community, funding and working on projects at Community Park, provided a mobile camcorder for the Hamburg Police Department, provided local ambulance corps with a Fibrillator, conduct and coordinate semi-annual blood drives, and sponsor a band in the annual King Frost Parade.
The Lions club also supports our community by building a better future for our youth by providing a scholarship each year to HAHS student, purchasing choir robes which currently has over 100 members. We support the Hamburg youth baseball program and co-sponsor an annual Christmas Parade.
The club seeks to raise the level of life for our community’s seniors by volunteering at the Blue Mountain Community Senior Center and sponsor a cake monthly for them to celebrate birthdays. We also pay for a meal in October for all attending the Senior Center.
We work with other Lions Clubs to improve our community’s health to eliminate all blindness and by working to find a cure for Ju7venile Diabetes, Lyme disease and deafness. Some of the organizations we support to improve your health are:
Berks County Blind Association Delaware Valley Eye Bank
Leader Dogs for the Blind Juvenile Diabetes Foundation
Berks County Assn. For the Hearing Impaired Lions Club International Foundation
Beacon Lodge Camp for the Blind
These organizations received over $40,000 from the Hamburg Lions Club since 1970.
Our money comes from Members Dues, Bingo at Community Events, Tent and Equipment Rentals, annual chicken BBQue Sale, Member Memorials, Broom Sales, Entertainment Books, Sidewalk Sale Refreshment Stand, Fieldhouse Dances, assisting the Keystone Handicrafters, and more…
Our mission is to create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation.
